Day 30 – Blogathon 2024 – Music

Music is something closest to my heart. I had felt literal goosebumps when I heard the famous ” Vellai malai ” song by ARR for the first time. From then began my love affair with music.

During my undergraduate hostel days, I was notorious for borrowing the walk man from a roomie and listening to my fav songs during study hours. The hostel also used to play 90’s music as a cue for food time. My favs then were Vijay and Ajith songs of yore.

For the last 1 year of my undergraduate college life, I was a day scholar. I used to listen to songs shared by cousins and hostel friends in optical disk format on a CD player . I used to have a mix of English, Tamil and Hindi songs . Avril, Blues, Savage garden, Dhoom, Ghajini, Bheema.. these are few fav albums.

Then came my post grad days when I could listen to ripped songs shared by college friends in pen drives. My fav show then on TV was Super singer. Used to aww and follow every single bit of the series. My love affair with songs that have Thamarai’s lyrics and Arr’s music began.

I got hitched up even before completing my post graduation. The husband had a list of his favs in an ipod. That was my company during bus journeys to the workplace. Then there were office shares of the latest songs and finally the you tube. By now I had diversified interest in Malayalam songs and Coke studio Pakistan.

I like Uttara Unnikrishnan’s rendition of devotional songs. I got Alexa barely a month once it was released in the Indian market and at 7 am every morning would let devotional music flood the home for a period of only 3 months. Once I spooked and spoofed mil by playing the playlist when I was in mom’s place by using phone control* I could be wicked sometimes*.

Now I listen primarily to dance beats and simbu songs while I wash vessels on You tube with boat air dopes plugged in my ears. This change in music genre is because of Zumba classes.

Before I bore you all. Good night.
